This time last year we were congratulating Shane Deppeler on achieving a remarkable milestone for completing 30 years of service at O’Gorman’s.
Here’s what Shane had to say:
“When I first started at O’Gormans 30 years ago, as a young chap without a driver’s license most of the time I was just a helping hand around the shop and assisting the then experience staff installing the internal and external window furnishings. Over the years I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience.
One memory that has stuck with me forever was when I was 17 years of age. I was with Dennis at a job installing bright red blinds in the morgue at the Peter McCallum Cancer Hospital. Dennis excused himself for 15 minutes but that duration felt like an eternity, as I stood there waiting I was too petrified to move a muscle – it was dead silent. Then without any warning the door to the freezer room opened up and a man in a long white coat walked out towards me, I have never been so scared in my life!!”
As a gesture of appreciation we decided to send Shane and his family away for a well-earned holiday for a little bit of R&R to sunny Port Douglas! Shane is a valued member of staff and plays an integral part in our team, he is also very well respected by everyone who passes through our doors. Well Done Shane!
